Reality:The State of Things as they May Appear

I know some of you know someone who moved, changed their phone number to the infamous 404/678 and now claims to be a part of the elite social class that is Atlanta. Maybe along the east coast, people are now claiming New Jersey is the new New York. For me, I am a tad tired of terminology like what’s the sitch.com and everyone thinking that no one is going to check them boo. Celeb-reality television has invaded everything that was right with entertainment, and I am quietly awaiting the demise. With every sport showcasing their girlfriends and baby mamas (because none of them are wives), where has discretion gone in our society? America is consumed with a new family every month and a lot of people are falling victim to their own reality.

We know that reality TV is all in the editing, but come on, whose life really plays out like that? Who makes phone calls with the person on speakerphone? Are we really going to keep living like teenage pregnancy is OK? I’m just asking questions. It seems to me that reality TV has made keeping up with the Joneses (Kardashians) the new above norm. I admit I love those krazy Kardashians, but I just cannot keep up.

I wonder if people tended to their children, jobs, finances and marriages the way people chase their 15 minutes or new season; how would the world be different?  Has reality TV gone too far? The only thing that could get more outrageous is if TBN starts advertising The Real Preacher’s Wives of the South. It’s a sin to lie, so you know you would watch it. It’s hilarious the crazy looks I get if I fail to know the names of the Braxton sisters; but how many people realize as we were celebrating the New Year , Japan celebrated with a 7.0 earthquake?  As entertaining as it may appear, I have never seen another grown woman or man(Eric) throw a drink in someone's face. In the real world we talk out our problems, or (wait for it) we just don't associate ourselves with that person . That would seem too much like right. Nonetheless, reality TV is really just the state of things as they may appear just as the objects in the rear-view mirror. Be cautious.

Are you living your own reality,
Terasha Nicole
