Drastic Changes Coming to Facebook

Zuckerberg demonstrates the new
"Facebook Timeline"
Contrary to the synonymous status updates from all of your friends, Facebook updated their status Sunday: “A rumor on the internet caught our attention. We have no plans to charge for Facebook. It's free and always will be.”I wish my status updates would get 478,094 likes. I ran across an interesting report on CNN about new changes to come for Facebook. If you’re like me, you are oblivious to any changes on Facebook until you log in for the first time in the morning. Zuckerberg and the team are doing things a little different this time around. CNN reports this to be the “website’s biggest web redesign” in Facebook history.  From what I understand; the “mini Facebook” called the Ticker in the top right corner, and the changes to your news feed; are the least of our problems. At the end of the month, the Facebook team is rolling out the “Facebook Timeline”. According to CNN:

Your Facebook profile will go from having one central column to two, with boxes of texts, photos, videos and eve maps of your favorite locations. Rather than just displaying your most recent activities, your profile will become a scrapbook documenting your entire life, all the way back to your birth. Facebook will become a record of your existence: All of your memories, your victories, your defeats, your loves, your losses and everything else in between.(CNN)

Just when I thought I had the Facebook I loved. I followed my inner inquisitive spirit and researched the new template. After downloading the 'developer' and activating the new Facebook Timeline, I immediately logged out and went to bed with a headache. But wait...I revisited  my new and improved page hours later, and I admit I love the update. The Timeline is just that. Think about sitting in 8th grade history and your teacher draws a timeline across the board and marks it with important historical years: 2011---2010---2009 and so on! This new layout simply pinpoints important status updates, wall posts, photographs and comments in reverse chronological order. After playing with my new layout for a while, I felt a more emotional connection to Facebook. That sounds silly and a bit obsessive I know, but where else can you access this much information at one time about your life. So my suggestion, don't wait for the universal roll out and be frustrated like the million other users day of. Everyone should download the Facebook Timeline and start playing with it! I'm sure you could use a few laughs down memory lane. Well done Zuckerberg and team.
